A very good read, as usual. I will join the chorus of those pointing out we have no vested interest in opening the Straights of Hormuz as our oil and such doesn’t flow through it. Been funny watching certain people and governments tumble to the fact we have no need and no desire to cover them this time. If they won’t step up, we will do what we need to for our purposes, but I doubt we will do any more than that. More thoughts on that after the weekend I hope. Have a Blessed weekend and stay safe.

Getting hit by lightning is not fun! If you would like to help me in my recovery efforts, and to start a truly new life, feel free to hit the fundraiser at A New Life on GiveSendGo, use the options in the Tip Jar in the upper right, or drop me a line to discuss other methods. There is also the Amazon Wish List in the Bard’s Jar. It is thanks to your gifts and prayers that I am still going. Thank you.
We do have a vested interest.
Oil is a commodity, and as such any oil being produced in that area that can’t get out is oil that is NOT on the market.
Which, because Oil is a commodity, drives up the price of a barrel, and drives up the price of gasoline at the pump.
High gas prices are good for American petroleum companies, but bad for the rest of us. I’ve seen gas prices go from about 2.80 a gallon to 3.90. That’s no bueno.
We also have a *few* allies left in Europe, and this puts more pressure on their economies. Britain, France and Germany can, well, you know. But Poland, and some of the other baltic states aren’t the awful cowards that the leaders of those three are, and have nothing to earn our approbation.
It is in all our interests to finish off the Iranian regime with dispatch, then dispatch “dead enders” and remnants wish to continue to fight to their afterlife with brutal effectiveness so that the oil may flow.
Yes, oil will go up, temporarily. In fact, DC is talking about 50 days then back down. As for our allies, how much American blood, sweat, and dollars do we owe them on top of what we have sacrificed for them? So, no, neither as a commodity standpoint nor any other point do we have a vested interest in opening the straights and it SHOULD be up to those who do to act. That is what Trump is pushing here, as the time of the free-ride is over (at least for now). As for Poland, Hungary, etc., you might find my proposal for a new non-military NATO based off them interesting. Use the search function and have fun. As for the last, no argument from me and should have been done long ago.
