No Irish Products Need Apply

Part of my family is from Ireland, and I appreciate Irish contributions to the world. Heck, the enclosed Catholic confessional came from the Irish I’m told (by an Irish priest no less). However, there comes a time when you have to let rubbish go; and, to call the current leadership and government of Ireland rubbish is to insult every midden heap and landfill in the world. They are a disgusting lot, and you should pay attention to the ethnic and religious makeup (and how few generations they’ve been in Ireland) of many of them.

As I noted in the previous post, the despicable fascista midget serving as president had Jews removed from the Holocaust Memorial service yesterday, with his goons dragging a pregnant Jewish woman out by the arms. My understanding was that he has been asked by the Jewish community not to attend, but did anyway just to be the largest anti-Semitic ass he could possibly be. Suspect he’s more than happy that many Jews are fleeing Ireland (and I strongly suggest they do as this guy would be right at home in the Third Reich and I suspect he mourns that they no longer exist).

Made the decision a few weeks ago to stop buying Irish products, but decided to go public with it after yesterday.

Kerrygold butter? Not any more. Plugra is as good, costs a little less, and is made here in the US I think.

Alcohol? On the stout front, America as a large abundance of good stouts, not to mention craft beers, that are flat-out better than Guinness. It may be heresy to some, but Guinness mostly coasts on reputation. Diageo is the owner and is not Irish, but promotes it as an Irish brand. Had just been introduced to an independent Irish distiller, but Irish whiskey is off the list. Frankly, lots of small independents to explore here, and I would offer that Scotch was the better choice usually. Again, easy choice to make and I won’t suffer for doing without.

Irish wool and fabrics? Eh, check out this U.S. company that I’ve heard good things about. Again and again there are a lot of good options here to check out, and you would be helping small U.S. businesses.

Seriously, it may not make a huge difference but it is something I can do. I don’t have to support Nazi-loving politicians. I can instead invest in American products and small American businesses. Hope you join me in so doing, as if enough of us do, it might help make a difference.

Getting hit by lightning is not fun! If you would like to help me in my recovery efforts, which include moving once we have medical issues cleared up, feel free to hit the fundraiser at A New Life on GiveSendGo, use the options in the Tip Jar in the upper right, or drop me a line to discuss other methods. There is also the Amazon Wish List in the Bard’s Jar. It is thanks to your gifts and prayers that I am still going. Thank you.

  1. Ireland sending 1/2 their cabinet here did St. Patrick’s day to charm President Trump. Irish are fighting same battle there that we are here: open immigration, loss of free speech, two tier justice (migrants over locals), bad treaties on carbon, radical enviros killing farming & peat bogs, transing of kids,…. Please email, tweet, smail mail Trump advising him of this. As well as your congressman & Senator.

Our soul brothers & sisters say this.

  2. Have you ever actually been in a confessional? Your comment is both incorrect and absurd. Why is it that the Catholic priesthood, the vast majority of whom are good priests who serve Christ faithfully and for precious little earthly reward, can be so casually maligned?
You are aware that public school teachers are much more likely than Catholic priests to molest children? Yet you revive this inaccurate trope. If it is a joke, it is a poor one. If it is a serious belief, it is wrong.

    1. I guess that you have never heard of islam. You should look into it and the history there of. Presuming you have the courage to do so.

  3. Aww, the typical anti-Catholic bigot. The “Know Nothings” are still very much alive. No, “Catholics don’t worship Christ. Instead they worship Mary?” How about the old rhubarb that early Church services always ended in orgies, after the baby sacrifice of course? Perhaps you should take your hood off. It improves reading comprehension. What’s that? Oh, the KKK didn’t just go after former slaves, they also went after “Papists” and “Jews” as well.

I stopped drinking scotch and switched to Irish whiskey after Scotland returned the Lockerbie bomber to Libya. Now I drink Tennessee whiskey as I await Tennessee’s eventual capitulation to God knows what.

  5. I am a little Irish, my husband almost 100%. We want to visit where his grandparents lived but they aren’t getting one cent of our money. On the butter front, I would say that Plugra butter isn’t a good substitute – not real butter. Vital Farms is a better choice. Thank you for shedding light on this – this should be all over the news and sadly, it isn’t.

    1. Sorry for the late reply, food poisoning blows. Will check out the Vital Farms, and appreciate the tip!

  6. Ireland is rabidly anti-Israel. Expand President Trump’s idea regarding removing Gaza’s terrorist -supporting population to Egypt or Jordan, and instead flood Ireland with two million Gazans. Let Irish taxpayers lodge these fanatics in their homes or four-star hotels, give these hordes of Gazans public benefits, ATM cards, health care and front-of-the-line privileges. Ireland is already doing it for tens of thousands of illegals, and supports uncontrolled mass immigration. All these competing tribes will be packed on a small island, less able to despoil nearby lands with their unending turmoil. Erase Irish culture by 2040 when Ireland applies to become part of the UAE.

  7. Ireland thinks of itself as a David always fighting off Goliaths. There’s some truth to it. However Hamas is no David and Israel is no Goliath. A Friend of mine in Turkey said to me that he doesn’t understand how people in the West are supporting the Muslim world’s arch fascists and mistaking them for freedom fighters. As a progressive from Turkey, his pretty cross with Europe putting their hatred of Israel before the future of the world. He also related that the Muslim Brotherhood, aka Hamas, carries our assassinations for hire all over the Muslim world, and routinely throw gays off of buildings, even in Turkey.
