Car Saga Continues

Quick update to this post. Did not get to meet with the lawyer this morning, they looked a things late last week and said nothing they can do, recommended some other resources (including the group that recommended them), and I’m going to continue to try to get a second or third opinion. Really doesn’t look like a lot I can do at this point, so may just be a hit on my credit score with no recourse. Bleh.

  1. I’m fairly sure you must be allowed to past an explanatory message alongside any negative rating posted to your credit report(s), so work something up that explains the situation without sounding whiney or anything similar. Think Sgt Joe Friday — “Just the facts”. Get someone you trust to read and critique it before uploading it, as you only get one chance to make a first impression. If you filed a police report, and as long as it doesn’t contain any personal info you wouldn’t want released, add the date and reference number of the report to your message, and the department where it was filed.

It won’t negate all the possible damage, but it may help in some situations.

    1. Sending an explanatory message to the rating services is about the only option open to me according to the lawyers, and they don’t have much hope for it. A lot of the rating agencies are seen as less interested in addressing things that challenge I’m told. It is my plan right now though. That, and things like this, may help. We will see.
